About this work

Cabot Tower is a historic 32-metre (105 ft) neo-Gothic landmark standing on Brandon Hill in Bristol. Built between 1897 and 1898, it commemorates the 400th anniversary of John Cabot’s voyage from Bristol to North America. Designed by local architect William Venn Gough, the tower is constructed from red sandstone with Bath Stone detailing and is crowned by a symbolic figure representing Commerce.
