About this work
A Bond Tobacco Warehouse at Cumberland Basin, Bristol. Built in 1905, the huge nine-storey warehouse was designed by the Bristol Docks Committee engineer and constructed by William Cowlin & Sons during the city’s early-20th-century tobacco-import boom. Its imposing industrial design uses red brick with dark engineering-brick bands, small regularly spaced windows and external metal fire escapes.
