Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed this terminus of the Great Western Railway at Temple Meads, built in 1839–41 with offices, an engine shed and a passenger shed. The timber train-shed roof, styled as a mock hammerbeam, spans 72 feet. Closed to trains in 1965, the Grade I-listed Bristol building now holds the Engine Shed business hub and the Passenger Shed events space.
