Known as St John on the Wall, the Church of St John the Baptist is built into Bristol's medieval city wall at the foot of Broad Street, its tower and spire rising over St John's Gate, the last surviving city gateway. Dating largely from the 14th century, the Grade I-listed church is now cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust and has a vaulted crypt beneath.
