About this work
Temple Church, also known as Holy Cross Church, is a historic ruined medieval church on Victoria Street in Bristol. Its origins date to the 12th century, when the Knights Templar established a circular church on the site. The present remains are largely from the 14th and 15th centuries, including its distinctive leaning tower, completed around 1460. The church was severely damaged during the Bristol Blitz in November 1940 and has since been preserved as a roofless ruin. It is a Grade II* listed building and a scheduled monument.
