Holy Trinity Almshouses in Old Market trace their foundation to John Barstaple in 1402. The present buildings were rebuilt in stages between 1857 and 1883 by the Bristol architects Foster and Wood in a Tudor-Gothic style, with a chapel and a carved oak stair turret. The Grade II*-listed almshouses are now flats.
