St Mary Redcliffe, the Grade I-listed parish church of Redcliffe in Bristol, was largely rebuilt in Gothic style from the 1290s onwards. Its original spire fell after a lightning strike in the 1440s and was only replaced in 1872, bringing the church to 274 feet, while Elizabeth I reputedly called it the fairest, goodliest and most famous parish church in England.
